“The evangelical is not afraid of facts, for he knows that all facts are God’s facts; nor is he afraid of thinking, for he knows that all truth is God’s truth, and right reason cannot endanger sound faith. He is called to love God with all his mind” (J.I. Packer).
This should be true. However, I think the opening line of Mark Noll’s The Scandal of the Evangelical Mind is more accurate: “The scandal of the evangelical mind is that there is not much of an evangelical mind.”
What J.I. Packer said needs to be true of all Christians. We must understand that our faith does have a reasonable basis. More than that, it is a basis of absolute truth, not relativism. Everything that is true comes from God. “All facts are God’s facts… all truth is God’s truth.” When will we learn this truth?
