Ascention

There has been much beautiful poetry written over the ages for the glory of God. I think in our day and age we have lost our appreciation for the classics. Today’s philosophers are the musicians. Song is itself a type of poetry. But that poetry is not the same as the poetry of ages past. I hope to share a few verses from time to time so that we can journey into this past to see the beautiful words that were written to the Lord.

“Mild lamb, which with thy blood, hast marked the path;
Bright Torch, which shin’st, that I the way may see,
Oh, with thy own blood quench thy own just wrath.
And if the holy Spirit, my Muse did raise,
Deign* at my hands this crown of prayer and praise.”

John Donne (From La Corona 7, Ascention)
